: Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004)

nato in Francia nel 1908 sin da giovane il suo interesse è per la pittura ma nel 1930 durante un viaggio incontra la fotografia e ne rimane affascinato. Da subito riscuote successo e le sue foto vengono pubblicate ed esposte decretandone l'assoluto talento artistico. Durante la seconda guerra mondiale viene fatto prigioniero dai tedeschi ma riesce ad evadere e ritornare in Francia. Nel 1947 fonda con Robert Capa, David "Chim" Saymour e George Rodger l'agenzia fotografica "Magnum Photos" che diventerà ben presto la più importante agenzia fotogiornalistica. Gli scatti di Henri Cartier Bresson passano alla storia per la loro immediatezza che sanno "fermare" momenti di vita in un'immagine in bianco e nero. Le pose vengono sempre stampate a formato pieno ed usa un 50mm con la sua fedele Leica che egli stesso definisce il prolungamento del suo braccio. 

Born in France in 1908. His interest for painting began at an early age but in 1930, during a trip he discovered photography and was left fascinated. He became successful quickly and his photographs became published and they revealed his artistic talent. During the Second World War, he was imprisoned by the Germans but managed to escape and returned to France. In 1946, he formed, together with Robert Capa, David “Chim” Seymour and George Rodger, a photography agency called “Magnum Photos”, which soon became the most important agency of photography. The shots of Henri Cartier-Bresson became famous for their immediacy, which knew how to capture life events in black and white. The images were always printed in full format and used a 50mm with the trustworthy Leica, which is described by Bresson as an extension of his arm.
